According to internet market research company www.OnePoll.com, the pub used to be a central meeting place where many couples met across the bar and got to know each other.

These days’ one in four British people are dating – or have dated – someone they met through online community websites. And over a third have got back in touch with an old flame through the sites.One in ten have even had gone a step further and had an affair or a one-night stand with someone they met via a social networking site.
